To all participants,

Following the exciting news of having the opportunity to win a new Evinrude 150 HO e-tec outboard as a grand prize for this RIPPLE season, we have taken the time to review our process and regulations to ensure transparency at all the events. This was done to ensure both fair play and our ability to provide a pleasant experience for all participants. As in previous years, we will try to keep things simple and maintain the great ambiance these events have come to be known for. The Fishin Canada Management Team counts on your collaboration to make 2014 a huge success! The following are the rules for the 2015 RIPPLE season…..good luck to all! 


Rules (Francais)

1. Official Team Registration

As of 2015, any angler who wishes to become an official competitive member of Fishin Canada must be pay a seasonal membership fee of 30$ and sign the release form. Being an official competitive member allows you to register for any Ripple event and the Rumble for the season. Membership fees can be paid at any time during the season but must be paid for the morning of the first event you participate in. Any two official members can register for the Ripples and the Rumble and fish as a team. There are no exceptions to the annual membership fee, Fishin Canada staff and volunteers must also pay the membership fee in order to participate in the events (Ripples & Rumble).

*Note 1: As in previous years, you are not obliged to participate in every event, only those that are convenient for you.

*Note 2 : The membership fee is new for 2015 and will allow Fishin Canada to cover operation costs that climb each year.

To register as an official member, simply enter your name in the Ripple(s) you wish to participate in, and pay the membership fee with the signed release form along with the Ripple entry fee the morning of the Ripple


2. Point System

The point system will be used to rank anglers. The six(6) anglers that will have accumulated the most points at the end of the season will face off(individually) at the Rumble for the grand prize of 2015.(see Rumble Classique section) Even if you fish as a team during the Ripples you accumulate points individually. This because you all can fish with different partners for the different events.


Here is how points will be acquired:


A. Point for showing up: Each participant in a Ripple will automatically get 5 points.

B. Point for LUNKER: the winner of the lunker in a Ripple will get 3 points.

C. Point for Standings: The top 10 anglers in each Ripple (see point distribution)


Point distribution:

Each member of the winning team(1st place) will get 10 points. Others will get 1 point less in descending order.


1st place : 10 points 6th place : 5 points
2nd place : 9 points 7th place : 4 points
3rd  place : 8 points 8th place: 3 points
4th  place : 7 Points 9th place : 2 points
5th  place : 6 points 10thpalce : 1 point





John and Marc are fishing together in the Big Pike Challenge #1 on May 11th. They manage to be in 4th place and have the lunker for the tournament.


They will each receive the following points towards their overall Rank:


            1.         5 Points for showing up.

            2.         3 Points for the lunker

            3.         7 Points for being in 4th place in the standings of the Ripple.


John and Marc will each have earned 15 points for their first event of Fishin Canada.


The points that you will have earned in each Ripple will be calculated and displayed on the board of (please allow 48hours to update the ranks after each tournament). After the final Ripple (Sept 13th Missisquoi) the top six (6) anglers with the most points for the season will move to the finale and compete for a chance to win the grand prize at the Rumble.

NOTE* The points do not determine the individual Ripple standings, they are attributed as a result of each Ripple.

3. Ripple & Rumble (Classic) Logistics


6h45 à 7h30: Team registrations and payment

8h00: Trickle start Blastoff (Positions to be drawn when registering at the event)

14h30: staff returns to weigh in

15h00: All Teams return

15h45 à 16h45: Official weigh in


Then it’s the distribution of sponsor prizing and cash


4. Rumble : Classic
The annual Fishin Canada final event named The Rumble process is the same process as the Ripple events. Each team registers during the registration period and must send a deposit of ($amount to be confirmed) by (date to be confirmed) and must pay balance on the day of the tournament. competes for the Rumble Trophy, Lunker prize etc. At the same time, the 6 top anglers who accumulated the most points throughout the season will compete amongst themselves to win the grand prize, an Evinrude 150hp HO. These top six (6) anglers will compete by themselves(no partners) and must fish from a boat. See Rumble Notes


*Rumble Note 1: The top six (6) anglers of the season that compete for the grand prize, must pay the regular entry fee per team since the top 6 are competing individually this means each top6 angler is considered a team.  They will compete against each other (6 anglers) only for the grand prize. They will not participate in the regular Rumble prizing and other sponsored prizes.


*Rumble Note 2: In order to be part of the top six (6) anglers that compete for the grand prize, you must have your own boat with all respective security and insurance coverage. An angler who manages to rank in the top six (6) but does not have his or her own boat as mentioned above will have to forfeit their spot to the next angler in the ranks. All 6 anglers must confirm their presence (and that they have a boat) to the Rumble at least 48hours prior to the Rumble. Should any of the top six (6) anglers not be present the morning of the Rumble there will be no substitution to next rank.


*Rumble Note 3: Fishin Canada reserves the right to place a scrutineer within any or all of the six (6) boats competing for the grand prize.




The rules for each event will be posted on in the event forum. The rules may vary slightly dependent on the species being fished (Pike,walleye or Bass). Before registering for an event, please read the rules carefully to fully understand their limitations.



6. Courtesy for the Fishin Canada staff
Fishin Canada staff assigned to executing the weigh in process, registration, etc must return to the weigh in location 30 mins. prior to all other participants. It is important to make room and allow these boats to be the first off the water in order to ensure a smooth weigh in process and proper fish handling.

7. The RIPPLE Management Team has the discretion to:


1: Disqualify competitors for any violation of the tournament rules without refund.

2: Cancel or postpone or re schedule the tournament in the case of bad weather.

3: Amend the rules and regulations as they see fit without notice

All decisions are final and binding.

The RIPPLE Management Team reserve the right to have the final decision on any issue pertaining to the rules, regulations and any tournament issues.



8. Media


Participation in the tournament grants Fishin Canada the use of any pictures of contestants, accounts, or interviews it gathers for the lawful promotion of the Fishin Canada RIPPLE events and/or its tournament operations.



9. Boat Equipment


Boats must be equipped with an operational ignition kill switch and be attached to the drivers’ body when the combustion engine is operating. Boats must be 14 feet or more in length. Canoes are not permitted. All Federal and Provincial fisheries and boating regulations are in effect.



10. Safety


(i) Safe boat conduct must be observed at all times by competitors. During the competition, each competitor must wear a Coast Guard-approved chest-type life preserver or inflatable PFD (this device must meet safety compliance with all Federal and Provincial laws). This preserver must be worn at all times the combustion engine is operating. This preserver must be strapped, snapped or zippered securely and maintained in that condition until the combustion engine is shut off. Violation of this rule shall be reason for disqualification.(ii) The RIPPLE Management Team have the right to delay, shorten, reschedule or cancel the start of an event because of bad weather or other factors that would endanger the safety of the competitors. Tournament waters may also be restricted at any time because of bad weather.



11. Sportsmanship


Competitors in the Fishin Canada RIPPLE events are expected to follow high standards of sportsmanship, courtesy, safety and conservation. Any infraction of these fundamental sporting principles may be deemed cause for disqualification.(i) Use of alcohol or drugs (other than those purchased over-the-counter or prescribed by a licensed physician) by any competitor during the tournament will not be tolerated and shall be cause for automatic disqualification from this and all future Fishin Canada RIPPLE events. No alcoholic beverages or other stimulants or depressants, prescription or otherwise, shall be allowed in the boats during competition days, or when in the weigh-in area. (ii) Maximum courtesy must be practiced at all times, especially with regard to boating and angling in the vicinity of non-competitors who may be on tournament waters. Any act of a competitor which reflects unfavorably upon efforts to promote fisheries conservation, clean waters and courtesy, shall be reason for disqualification.(iii) All competitors are bound by the prevailing statutes and regulations of the various jurisdictions within which they fish.(iv) Chemical substance addiction or abuse, conviction of crimes involving moral turpitude, or other conduct reflecting unfavorably upon efforts to promote safety, sportsmanship, fair competition and compliance with tournament rules shall be grounds for rejecting any application for participation and/or for disqualification after circumstances are reviewed by the The RIPPLE Management Team. Any disqualification suspension from, or other disciplinary action regarding any tournament or fishing organization shall be grounds for rejecting any application for participation in the Fishin Canada RIPPLE events after circumstances are reviewed by the Fishin Canada Management team.



12. Aerated Livewells & Fish Care


All boats must be equipped with a fully operational livewell large enough to sustain a tournament limit of fish in releasable condition. It is recommended that live wells be maintained at full level with aerators on manual. Tournament officials shall have the sole responsibility for determining whether aeration and capacity is proper and adequate. Bass that are weighed in, that demonstrate symptoms that would suggest survival is unlikely, will result in a penalty of .50 lbs (8 ounces). The Fishin Canada Management Team or their designate shall have sole authority in assessing status of bass and applying penalties.



13. Bass Limits & Weighing


A maximum of three or five BASS per day, per team may be presented for official weighing. Only LARGEMOUTH AND SMALLMOUTH BASS will be weighed. Livewell contents other than LARGEMOUTH AND SMALLMOUTH BASS are not allowed to be presented for weigh-in

(i.e. No item(s) regurgitated by the angler’s fish during the day). Each team is allowed 1 request to re-weigh their total catch and / or big fish. The weight recorded on the re-weigh will be the final weight registered for that team. Another team cannot request a re-weigh of a competitors catch. Only tournament officials may manipulate and place fish into the scale system for weighing.



14. Competitors Must Remain in Boats


In the case of an emergency it is permissible for competitors and their fish, to be removed from their boat to the boat of another competitor for the sole purpose of transporting the other competitor and their fish back to the weigh-in. No angling is permitted to a team once a competitor has been allowed on board. Both teams must immediately stop fishing. No competitors may step on shore without approval by a tournament official except to take shelter in the case of hazardous weather and/or lake conditions endangering the lives of the competitors. Washrooms and/or Facilities may be used at marinas, but one competitor must remain on the boat and may not fish in the absence of their partner. A member of the Fishin Canada Management Team reserves the right to randomly board any competitor’s boat for observation at any given time during the course of the competition.



15. Only Artificial Lures Permitted


No “live bait” or “prepared bait” is permitted, with the exception of pork strips and rind. Liquid fish attractants may be used. Trolling is prohibited, with the exception of walleye tournaments unless stipulated by staff on the morning of the event.



16. Trickle Start Blast-Off Procedure


Audio cues will be used to identify the boat number being released for blast off. You can only leave once your number is called. If you leave before your number is called, you will be assessed at least a .50 pound penalty. If your early departure is more than two boat numbers from your position, you will be disqualified from the tournament. It is not permitted to have a line in the water at any time prior to your team’s official departure. Failure to comply will result in an immediate disqualification.



17. Tournament Hours


Trickle start @ 8:00 am / 3;00 p.m. return, or as determined by Fishin Canada Management Team. Re All tournament rules are in effect until after your fish are weighed in on the final day of competition. Fishing outside of the competition hours on the days of competition is strictly prohibited.




18. Proof of Boat Insurance


Anglers must provide all boat information including horsepower, size, make, insurance policy number and expiry date when their team. All boats must be covered with minimum liability coverage of $1,000,000.00. (For U.S. anglers the standard amount of insurance for the U.S. will apply). THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS RULE. Please have available proof of insurance when you register or the morning of the event.



19. Fishing Licenses


It is the responsibility of all anglers competing in the Fishin Canada RIPPLE events to possess a current fishing license(s) that that apply to the body of waters covered at the various events.


20. Try-Out Anglers

The goal of offering try out spots for people to fish the ripples is intended to attract new anglers to the competitive scene and allow them to actually experience one event for themselves free of charge. It hopes to make new anglers compete to try it out at no financial risk. The try outs will have their bags weighed and will get to see their standings along side of the “Pros”, but since they are not paying for the entry will not be eligible for prizing, only bragging rights.  Hopefully anglers will try out and realize they have what it takes to compete and win some prizes in future events.

Try-out spots (2 spots at most per tournament)

1. As a new angler you can do this only once. The next time you wish to participate you will be expected to pay membership and entry fees.

2. No entry fee, no membership fee, no Prizes! braging rights only.

3. All Rules and Regulations apply.

4. Signed Release form and proof of insurance must be supplied morning of the Try-out Ripple.

5. Try-out teams (up to 2 new anglers) will depart last during the blast off

6. Try-out teams will weigh-in last.

7. Anglers must be over 18 years of age

8. Try outs that chose to sign up for a membership and compete in remaining Ripples of the season following the try-out, will be offered to keep half the points they earned in the try-out towards the top 6 standings.

9. Fishin Canada staff reserves the right to refuse entry of a Try-out at their own discretion.

10.Try-out anglers cannot be paired with a paying angler.

11. No Try-outs for the RUMBLE.
